Holy JEEZUS!
Journal Entry: Sat May 10, 2008, 9:28 PM
- Mood:
Joy - Listening to: My fan, 'cause it's effing 90 degrees in here
- Reading: This journal entry to edit/correct.
- Watching: My...computer screen?
- Playing: CoD4 at home, BF2 at work.
- Eating: Slightly overcooked BBQ from the bike rally
- Drinking: Diet Coke...
Gots me a new computer. Notebook. I can now sell off my old laptop... AND my desktop. Yes, the new thing can & will replace my desktop. It's that effing powerful. And I can't brag about it simply because... I bought that thing instead of a car. Yes, INSTEAD OF A CAR.
But I must share with you. Not like I'm showing off, but like someone showing you pictures of their newborn child.
Come. Share the joy with me. Bask in it's LED-lit glory.
Dell XPS M1730. That means 17" screen. The computer is monstrous. It weighs a metric butt-ton. 1920x1237527855-some-odd-godly-insane-resolution.
2.4gHz Intel Core2 Duo. That means it's probably a full gHz more powerful than I'd ever need unless I still have the thing in 15 years. AND overclockable to 3.0gHz. Though Dell advertises that, so it should be safe, I wanna get as much life outta' this beast as I can. And who the hell needs that, anyway? Besides maybe science, CGI & video production professionals.
Now here's the real beauty of it all... 512mb nVidia 8800m GT SLI. (though, SLI seems to suck butt at the moment...well, having dual 256mb GPUs is pretty effing sweet) PLUS 128mb Agea PhysX.
Only came with 2gb RAM, but for $40 shipped, I got a 2gb stick, so it has 3gb RAM now. It came with Vista Premium, not Ultimate, so it's only 32-bit OS & can only recognize the 3gb RAM, not 4gb. But hey, 3gb is still nice. I thought Vista was gonna blow scrote, but with the 1gb upgrade & the right tweaks, it runs pretty nice and smooth. Looks pretty, too. Nothing compared to the eye candy that is Beryl for Linux, but hey, it came with the machine, & I don't have to mess with WINE/Adobe/games for linux. But I dual-boot anyway. Threw a 2nd 200gb hard drive in the notebook. Damn thing isn't even a week old before I upgraded it twice. Technology is my vice.
And so there ya have it. Don't expect moar artz for a little while longer while I make the transition and clear out my living space of junk.
And I haven't submitted in a long time 'cause...uhm...well... stuff.
Yeah.
